With the 3rd pick in the draft, The Bobcats select…

Posted by on May 25, 2006 in Adam Morrison, NBA Draft | 0 comments

Well, lets start from the top:

With the 1st pick in the NBA draft, The Toronto Raptors select Andrea Bargnani. Its a poorly kept secret that the Raptors new General Manager has a really heavy school girl’s crush on the Italian Bargnani. Prior to the lottery, there were also rumors going around that the Raptors were going to work with Barganani to spread rumors that he only intended to play for them, which they hoped would scare other teams away from drafting him. Now that they’re sitting in the #1 spot, they don’t have to play those types of games.

With the 2nd pick in the NBA draft the Chicago Bulls select Lamarcus Aldridge. The Bulls need an offensive minded big man to play alongside the defensive minded Tyson Chandler and Lamarcus is their guy. They pass on Tyrus Thomas, because pairing him with Chandler would give them two post players with absolutely no low post offensive game.

And now to the Bobcats, With the 3rd pick in the NBA daft the Bobcats select Rudy Gay. In most of the mock drafts on the net, they have the Bobcats drafting Adam Morrison. To put it simply, all of those mocks are wrong. Rudy Gay is the type of long, athletic, defensive minded wing player that Bernie Bickerstaff covets. There may be some trouble figuring out who is going to play the shooting guard spot between Gerald Wallace and Rudy, but that won’t stop Bickerstaff from drafting what he percieves as the best player regardless of the fact that its not a position of need.
See last years drafting of Sean May, despite the fact that he plays the same position of Emeka Okafor.

2006 All-Rookie Team Hypocrisy

All-Rookie Team Hypocrisy

The 2006 All-Rookie Team was released tonight, The voting was done by all 30 head coaches. Each coach was responsible for selecting the top 10 rookies ( regardless of position ). The first 5 of their selections would receive 2 points, the 2nd five would receive 1 point. The coaches were NOT allowed to vote for one of their own players.
The results of these slack-jawed morons is below.

2005-06 T-Mobile NBA ALL-ROOKIE FIRST TEAM
Player Team                    First (2 pt) Second (1 Pt) Total
Chris Paul New Orleans         29     -     58
Charlie V. Toronto                 27     2    56
Andrew Bogut Milwaukee      26     3    55
Deron W. Utah                      18    10   46
Channing Frye New York      17    11    45

2005-06 T-Mobile NBA ALL-ROOKIE SECOND TEAM
Player Team                     First (2 pt) Second (1 Pt) Total
Danny Granger Indiana         14    15   43
Raymond Felton Charlotte     14    12   40
Luther Head Houston              4    20   28
Marvin W. Atlanta                    -    15    15
Ryan Gomes Boston               -    14    14

These retards somehow managed to vote Raymond Felton as the seventh best rookie this season. Thats right, seventh, Even with three Eastern Conference Rookie of the month awards, more 30+ point games than any of the other rookies. Matched CP3 stat for stat after the all-star break etc etc.  These fools even voted Deron Williams on to the first team instead of Raymond, even though Felton leads D.Williams in PPG, RBG, SPG, APG, 3P% and every other relevant category. Don’t even get me started griping on the fact that 3 of the coaches didn’t even think that he was a top 10 rookie, Maybe they were all mesmerized by those 7 point 7 rebound games that Andrew Bogut was posting.
My only explanation for these results is that the coaches are trying to justify their their 2005 draft research, For example last year all of the coach/GMs were getting orgasmic over the potential of Bogut and Marvin Williams, so at the end of the year they feel obligated to vote for them as 1st team all rookie or else it makes all of their draft research look like crap. After looking at these bogus results, Thats the only theory that I can come up with.

Is the 2006 NBA draft REALLY weak

Posted by on May 3, 2006 in Adam Morrison, NBA Draft | 0 comments

An interesting discussion has started in our forums , the question thats being debated is, Is the 2006 NBA draft REALLY weak?

I hear so much about the 2006 draft being so weak, but I don’t really believe thats the case. Of course there isn’t a Shaq or a LeBron or a Greg Oden out there thats going to turn a franchise around, but lets compare it to last years draft.

If last year’s #1 Andrew Bogut were in this year’s draft, would he be the top pick overall again? I have my doubts, if you’re looking for a bigman, then you would probably take LaMarcus Aldridge over Bogut. Aldridge clearly has more defensive potential than Bogut.

would last year’s #2 Marvin Williams go that high in this year’s draft? If you’re looking for a high flying, sky walking forward, could you really take him ahead of other athletes like Rudy Gay or Tyrus Thomas? Very doubtful. Both of these guys have the athleticism of Marvin Williams and Rudy clearly has a more developed game.

last year’s #3, Deron Williams? seriously, he’d be lucky to be top 10 in this draft.
