Adam Morrison out for the year with a torn ACL

The news just came out that Adam Morrison will be out for the year with a torn ACL. Initially the injury was diagnosed as a left knee sprain ( even though those at the scene said they knew that it was much worse ) however todays MRI revealed a partial to complete tear of the ligament.

Charlotte Observer

The MRI revealed a partial to complete tear of the ligament, the
team said Sunday before the Bobcats’ preseason matchup with the Phoenix
Suns. Morrison was scheduled to fly back to Charlotte on the team
plane, then be examined Monday by Dr. Glenn Perry, the team physician.

However,
coach Sam Vincent was warned by team medical personnel to expect
Morrison to miss the season. Morrison felt a popping sensation in the
knee during the injury, so the team suspected all along that the
initial diagnosis — a severe sprain — was optimistic.

Our best wishes are with Adam. After his very difficult rookie season where he took a beating from his critics, he came into camp in better conditionr. He had added some muscle to his frame, was knocking down his shots and giving better effort on the defensive end of the court. This was shaping up to be a season where Adam was going to prove many of his critics wrong.

Fortunately for Adam, an ACL injury isn’t the death sentence that it was a decade or so ago. Players are routinely coming back from this injury after a year of rehab.

Bobcats fans react to Adam’s injury.
