The Cho Objective

Here in our Bobcatsplanet Forums we’ve come up with a term for all of the losing that the players and fan base have had to suffer through this season. We have given this painful process the title of  The Cho Objective. Now we didn’t give it this name out of anger or in a ‘Lets run Rich Cho out of town’ mentality, This title is actually named out of respect for what Rich Cho is doing…

Yep, you heard me right. The Bobcats are planted firmly at the bottom of the league’s standings yet we as fans are very happy with what he has done, And this is why. As an organization in a small to mid-sized market in today’s NBA, moving players that will not be a part of your long term plans ( like Gerald Wallace or Stephen Jackson ) for draft picks is the right thing to do. If you look at it from a long term perspective, moving a player that won’t be helping your team 3 to 4 years down the road for additional spots in the draft is like getting Free Picks.

Rich Cho understands all of this perfectly. He realizes that the NBA of today that unless you’re the Knicks, Heat or Lakers then you have to get decidedly worse before you have any chance at all of getting better. Small to mid-sized markets like Charlotte will never get their hands on the type of game changing free agent that can single-handedly turn around a team’s fortunes. It simply will never happen. Rich Cho realizes that having a mediocre team and pinning your hopes on nabbing that free-agent savior to push you to that mystical next level is a fantasy.

Thank You Toronto

Thank You Toronto

At this time after suffering through an abysmal 16 game losing streak, I think it is only appropriate that we give thanks to the people that helped the Charlotte Bobcats break this heinous streak that was on the verge of reaching Reverse-Undertaker-Wrestlemania-Streak proportions.

First I would like to thank the people of Toronto Canada. Thank you for your unrivaled hospitality, Thank you for your wacky National Anthem, Thank you for that goofy 3 dimensional design that you have on both ends of your court that makes it look like people are about to run into a sign 90 times a game.  Thank you for the Toronto Argonauts if for no other reason than naming your professional  football team after an Octopus is rather groundbreaking.

Thank you to all of the Toronto Raptors bloggers who will have to put up with the question of ‘how on earth did we lose to this sorry team questions’. Good luck with those questions Raptors Republic and Raptors HQ.

Thank you to James Johnson, Amir Johnson and Leandro Barbosa who repeatedly challenged Bismack Biyombo, failing to understand that his arms are about 14 feet long and that the one thing that he does extremely well already in this league is block shots.

Thank you Toronto Raptors for saving us from the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest losing losing streak. Thank you to Andrea Bargnani’s calf which fortunately for us was too jacked up to allow him on the court.

Thank you Toronto…. Your unmatched generosity is greatly appreciated.

Previewing the Game of the Century – Charlotte Bobcats versus Washington Wizards part I

Posted by on Jan 25, 2012 in Washington Wizards | 2 comments

Looking ahead at the first of two epic match-ups between the Bobcats and the Wizards, I took the opportunity to interview Kyle Weidie of the fantastic TruthAboutIt.net a phenomenally entertaining Washington Wizards blog.

Below are his thoughts on the Wizards.

Ziggy: What was the main reason Flip Saunders was fired?

Kyle: When major change must happen else the franchise finds itself going in reverse (a case could be made that Washington’s already in that state), the coach is the first who’s gotta go. Why? Because he’s the easiest to get rid of (GMs come with more tentacles and players, not a chance). The Wizards curiously did retain the rest of Flip’s staff, promoting top assistant Randy Wittman, perhaps to save money. One thing that’s widely believed is that this is not a solution to the problem, far from it. Washington needs more change, you just gotta wonder who’s next.
Ziggy: How many seasons away is John Wall from performing at an All-Star level? What does he need to improve on in order to take that next step?
Kyle: It will be predicated on the Wizards’ ability to win. Seeing as they are likely a 2013 lottery team as well, I’m going to call 2014 for Wall’s first All-Star season… so his fourth year in the league.

The Miami Heat slip by the Charlotte Bobcats 96-95

Posted by on Dec 29, 2011 in Boris Diaw, DJ Augustin, Miami Heat | 3 comments

Although the Bobcats came out on the short end of the stick against the Miami Heat, there really isn’t a whole lot to complain about with tonight’s effort.  The Bobcats rushed out to an early halftime lead behind fantastic play from DJ Augustin and crazy first half numbers from Boris diaw ( 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block at the half ). Boris finished up with a ridiculous 16 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists. A more skeptical person might think his numbers this season have something to do with it being a contract year for him, but I’m sure it has absolutely, positively nothing to do with… yeah, nothing at all, Really.

After running out to an early 15 point lead, The Bobcats came out sloppy in the second half turning the ball over in three of their first four possessions. After that slow third quarter start, the Heat slowly chipped away at the lead until this finally happened.

Make all the Juwanna Mann jokes that you want to about Chris Bosh, but he brought it hard in the second half and with Wade missing a good chunk of the second half with a sore foot, Bosh was the predominant reason that the Miami Heat snuck out of Charlotte with a win.

On pace for 66-0… Your Charlotte Bobcats!

Posted by on Dec 26, 2011 in Boris Diaw, DJ Augustin, Gerald Henderson, Kemba Walker, Milwaukee Bucks | 5 comments

That’s right people, The Charlotte Bobcats are a mere 65 wins away from putting together that mythical 66-0 perfect NBA season that the city of Charlotte and the NBA has been buzzing about. Who gives half a crap about that funky little 16-0 that the Green Bay Packers were working on in the NFL this season, when you have a team like our Bobcats on the verge of such a legendary season… Um, yeah.

There were plenty of heroes in tonight’s game versus the Milwaukee Bucks.

  • For starters we had our point-center-pseudo-smallforward or whatever the hell he is Boris Diaw playing all over the court and racking up a near triple double. Boris had 9 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 blocked shots for good measure (my fantasy team humbly thanks you).
