Wallace and the ‘Cats spoil Steph Curry’s return home, 101-90

If you had any question how well liked young Stephen Curry is in the Queen City, then that was certainly answered tonight. Returning home to Charlotte as a Golden State Warrior, the rookie received a standing ovation in player introductions and was cheered nearly every time he touched the ball. However, Gerald Wallace, DJ Augustin, and Boris Diaw helped the Charlotte Bobcats ruin his trip home, winning 101-90.

Bobcats continue Laker dominance, 98-83

Nights like tonight are when I remind myself why I suffer through losing streaks, ownership issues, bad tv deals, and all the other problems of being a Charlotte Bobcats fan. Being a Bobcats fan means all that, but it also means an annual win or two against the Kobe Bryant-led Los Angeles Lakers, in front of a packed house sprinkled with fair-weather Kobe-lovers, Ric Flair, Bob Johnson, and MJ himself. Tonight was no different, and Gerald Wallace, Stephen Jackson and crew led the Bobcats to a win, 98-83.

Heir Jordan and Walking in Memphis

What an eventful 24 hours for Bobcats fans. First, Captain Jack and crew won an exciting, hard fought game over a young Memphis Grizzlies squad 93-89. Then, in the early morning hours we found out that UNC and NBA legend and current co-owner Michael Jordan will become the next controlling owner of the Bobcats, succeeding Robert Johnson.

Nothing? Something now - Michael Jordan is the new Bobcats Owner

I owe Rick Bonnell and apology. The Bobcats have been sold, or rather a controlling interest in the team has shifted from Bob Johnson to Michael Jordan. Details are slow in coming but it appears that Bob’s Cats have become Jordan’s Bobcats.
I am not sure what this means right now. I believe it will grow the sponsorships, I think that it will draw a bit of attention at first and that it’s going to be very interesting for all of us. Michael Jordan is a huge, …

BigCat: Big Wrap

I’m not blogging as much as I’d like and for that I appologize to you, loyal reader.  I started one last weekend but I was interrupted about 30-40 times by my Mother, Father and Niece asking “What are you doing?”  Or rather, when it’s my niece:  ”UN-kle! AN-DRAW!  You come play with my dooooollll-houssssseee?”  She’s 18 and we’re so proud she learned to talk finally (jokes, she’s 3 and the cutest stinkin kid you’ve ever seen).
I have been keeping up with all the goings-on with the Bobcats.  I’m very confused …

Charlotte Bobcats Ownership

I am both confused and befuddled by the recent hoopla over the supposed sale of the Charlotte Bobcats.  I don’t think it’s been confirmed by the league or any of the parties involved.  An announcement of George Postolos’s group buying the team and leaving it open for Michael Jordan and whatever group he has in place to match his offer seems a bit premature.  It’s been going on since May.
The story I’ve heard from my own unnamed sources, legit however, unnamed because it was just a friendly discussion with an …

My Hero Black Tie Gala

Fancy pants…look out BigCat is invited to a Black Tie and Tennis shoes Gala!  I think this is my first “Gala.”  I really don’t know what Gala means but I’ll tell you what my experience was like. This is the 3rd Annual My Hero Black Tie/Tennis Shoes Gala, held at the Arena, Presented by Deloitte and about 30 other sponsors.  The event is to raise money for the Bobcats Youth Foundation and Presbyterian Hospital/Bobcats Community Care Cruiser.  I was there as a casual observer, don’t really have the clout or …

Buzz: Ownership and The Answer

The Charlotte Bobcats news feed is sort of sparking up, yeah…a buzz is happening this week. Dog days of summer and all of a sudden hey now, Bobcats. It’s on the heels of a few Tweets, twits, I swear, somebody tell me what to call those things. I don’t get on twitter.com. It’s interesting because these guys are breaking their own stories. AI says “Charlotte, New York, Miami” and the world breaks loose. Then he says something about he’s not worried about the money, …

Swap Meat?

I love the movie Bull Durham.  Kevin Costner calls Tim Robbins “meat” the whole time.  You know what he means but “Nuke” doesn’t.  My old roommate and I started calling Chuck James from the Braves “Meat” a couple years ago.  Every time he’d step out there it was like, “How long before somebody just rocks him and he’s got that holy-crap-did-that-just-happen-AGAIN looks on his face?”  You just knew the guy was set up to lose or something but you knew he had a few flashes or hopefully wouldn’t be out …

An Interview with Michael Thompson

I was just recently able to interview Bobcats Director of Corporate Communications Michael Thompson, who I’d have to say is one of the nicest sports team employees I’ve ever met. Here it is, enjoy.

Expectations and Frustrations

I’m thinking of my Mom yelling from the other side of the kitchen:
“Close the refrigerator door.  If you don’t know what you want then obviously you aren’t hungry!”
This seems to be the thought process over at 333 East Trade these days.  “We just don’t know what we want.  But we want something!” We all thought it was Allen Iverson last week, but we didn’t really want him.  Brandon Bass, Rasheed Wallace, SideShow Bob, all off the table.  Who knows?  I don’t.  I can’t think about it anymore.  But I have …

The Second Coming of Mark Cuban?

But what if, just what if the next ownership group was led by Michael Jordan? That’s where the title comes into play here.
