When Michael Jordan brought Kwame Brown into the fold last season there were a lot of people that thought His Airness was making a big mistake. Jordan screwed up back in 2001 when he made Brown the first No 1 pick straight out of high school. Was he trying to make up for the mistake by giving the kid—now an adult—a job?

Lately there have been a few stories in the news that talked about Kwame when he first entered the league. He was young; he was brash. He thought he was something special by being the first high school player taken at No 1.

The reality of the situation is that he was special. The problem is that he was still just a kid. A mistake that most people mistake is thinking that someone is an adult when they turn 18. They’re allowed to vote, they can buy cigarettes, they can die for their country; the fact of the matter is that age means little if there is not a maturity to match.

Apparently getting embarrassed in Orlando, Denver and Los Angeles wasn’t enough. The Charlotte Bobcats, missing captain Stephen Jackson, made it a perfect 4-for-4 of disgrace on their road trip, being trampled by the Portland Trail Blazers 93-69. Gerald Henderson led the Bobcats with 16 points, and that’s all you need to say to know it was a bad night.

If there was a worse way for this game to have gone, I’m not sure what it is. Star player is injured, your team loses, and opposing team’s star sits the entire fourth quarter. In a rivalry that your team has dominated. Yup, that’s about all I can say for tonight’s Charlotte Bobcats loss in Los Angeles.

After the trades of co-captain Gerald Wallace and Nazr Mohammed yesterday, and the requisite waiving of Sherron Collins, Dominic McGuire and Derrick Brown, the Charlotte Bobcats entered tonight’s game against the Sacramento Kings with eight players in uniform. Stephen Jackson, DJ Augustin and Gerald Henderson made sure that wasn’t a problem.

Pathetic. Poor. Unbecoming. Deplorable. Inferior. Feeble. Miserable. Wretched. Those are some words to describe the New Jersey Nets performance tonight. And they won. So what words describe the Bobcats, who never led? There are none, other than “not again.” For a team trying to make the playoffs, games like tonight cannot happen.

The Miami Heat won a close game last night in Orlando, in which their Captain, Dwayne Wade, suffered a back injury when fouled by Dwight Howard. It wasn’t certain if he’d play as close as an hour before game time. So what’d he do? Oh, nothing, just post his first triple double since 2006. Naturally.
