Get us back in the playoffs please.

While my colleague James has been writing about interesting free agents (read his post!) I am going to discuss the future of this team as the Bobcats management obviously has started a rebuilding (again) of the franchise. Now in my eyes there are only a few things that can be done at this point thinking ahead. Let me explain. The rebuilding started by trading our only All-star in franchise history to the blazers (Gerald Wallace), and next the only good scorer on our team (Stephen Jackson) to the Bucks to move up in the draft, where we drafted Bismack Biyombo (7th), and Kemba Walker (9th). Our roster now contains two top 10 draft picks, including young talented guards D.J. Augustin and Gerald Henderson, young talented forwards Tyrus Thomas, Dante Cunningham (if resigned which seems to be in the plans) and D.J. White, together with veteran forwards Corey Maggette and Boris Diaw and a Center named Kwame Brown (unless someone steals him). There are more players on the roster yes, but not worth mentioning.  So let’s look at our options.

Lockout Linkage: Applauding the Motivated

This NBA Lockout has sapped the will to write completely out of me. When I think about the very real possibility that I may not being able see my beloved NBA until possibly November of 2012 it’s enough to  make me physically ill.

With that being said, I would like to recognize those that are able to stay motivated and pump out quality Bobcats content during this very jacked up lockout.

Here are a few very good recent articles from those that have not succumbed to this David Stern inspired malaise.

Portland Blazes Bobcats, 93-69

Apparently getting embarrassed in Orlando, Denver and Los Angeles wasn’t enough. The Charlotte Bobcats, missing captain Stephen Jackson, made it a perfect 4-for-4 of disgrace on their road trip, being trampled by the Portland Trail Blazers 93-69. Gerald Henderson led the Bobcats with 16 points, and that’s all you need to say to know it was a bad night.

Jack leaves game in 94-82 loss to Lakers

If there was a worse way for this game to have gone, I’m not sure what it is. Star player is injured, your team loses, and opposing team’s star sits the entire fourth quarter. In a rivalry that your team has dominated. Yup, that’s about all I can say for tonight’s Charlotte Bobcats loss in Los Angeles.

No surprises, Magic too much for Bobcats

The game started out well when DJ drew a foul on Dwight Howard in the opening seconds of the 1st half. However, the Bobcats stopped attacking the rim and couldn’t get DH to commit his second foul. This led to a rough 1st half. A barrage of three pointers by Arenas and Ryan Anderson and poor bench play quickly resulted in a 15 point second quarter deficit. Yet, the Cats hung around and trimmed the Magic’s lead to 8 at the half (59-51) thanks to Jack’s 20 1st half points. The bench offered nothing but fouls. The newest Bobcats, Przybilla, Cunningham, and White combined for 7 fouls and Najera and Carroll failed to score.
