Bobcats Baseline breaks down Charlotte Bobcats media day photos

Posted by on Sep 29, 2010 in Uncategorized | 3 comments

Our friends over at Bobcats Baseline have a nice breakdown of the photos from Charlotte Bobcats media day.

Dr. E’s comments on Javaris Crittendon

Javaris Crittendon:  If I was Jeff Siner, I would have printed out a couple of different pictures for Javaris, then placed them on a chair by his locker with a note that said “Pick One.”  I’m sure he’d think it was funny.

Being the somewhat disturbed group of fans that we are over here at BCP, we have 2 more pictures for them to breakdown.

First, I would like a thorough analysis of Darius Miles’ armpits

Rumors: Boris Diaw out – Devin Harris in

Posted by on Sep 24, 2010 in Boris Diaw, DJ Augustin, Trades, Uncategorized | 8 comments

Look at all of these rumors surrounding me every day… But it’s not everyday that you hear one that is as juicy ( and ridiculously lopsided in favor of the Bobcats ) as this one.

ESPN

The Denver Nuggets are having serious discussions about a four-way trade that would land Carmelo Anthony with the New Jersey Nets, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations.

The proposed deal, sources said, also would involve the Utah Jazz and the Charlotte Bobcats. It would deliver Nets rookie forward Derrick Favors, Jazz veteran Andrei Kirilenko and multiple first-round picks to Denver in exchange for their franchise player, potentially bringing a resolution to Anthony’s uncertain future before the Nuggets hold their first practice of the new season.

Sources told ESPN.com that the deal, which has yet to be finalized, also would send former All-Star point guard Devin Harris to Charlotte, with Bobcats forward Boris Diaw moving to Utah.

The four teams, said one source close to the talks, are “seriously engaged” after extensive talks Thursday.

We are keeping our ears open for anything else that we hear on this potential deal and we promise that we will provide updates as soon as we hear anything.

The members of our forum are salivating at the possibility of this deal happening.

How do you feel about it?

Will the Bobcats steal away some of the Carolina Panthers Fans?

Posted by on Sep 20, 2010 in Uncategorized | 2 comments

I’ll start this out by saying that in addition to being a huge Charlotte Bobcats fan ( as if there were any doubt about that ) I am also a big Carolina Panthers fan. Every Panthers game that I watch, I’m pulling for them just as hard as every other fan out there. BUT I have to wonder are the Carolina Panthers’ struggles a potential gain for the Charlotte Bobcats? How much more of this really, REALLY sorry football will the fans be able to take before they jump ship and switch their primary focus to the other team in town?

Taking a look at some of the Carolina Panthers blogs out there, you can see that this is not a fan base full of optimism. Here is what they were saying following yesterday’s uninspiring loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

Happy Rest Period, Charlotte Bobcats!

Posted by on Apr 13, 2010 in Gerald Henderson, Gerald Wallace, Headline, Stephen Jackson, Tyrus Thomas, Uncategorized | 1 comment

The Bench, THE BENCH, scored 50 something last night and Gerald Henderson (remember him?  the rookie from Duke?) had some NASTY to the third power dunks.  I commented on twitter (can we not call it a “tweet”) that there has never been a line up that wanted to dunk more than Hendo, Ty Thomas and Ty Chandler on the floor.  If you put Gerald Wallace and Ryan Hollins out there you’d have nothing but dunks.  (I kinda miss Mr. Hollins.  Athlete, dunk, block, foul machine)  But who would pass them the ball?  That’s where Raymond and DJ came in with 15 assists.

It was nice to beat the stinkin’ Nets for once this year, and soundly I might add.  Poor New Jersey, don’t worry, next year might be better.  IF you get a new coach and IF this group of young talent can gel and IF they bring in somebody who can play and IF they draft the right piece.  They’re moving to Newark and if you’ve never been to Newark, check out Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle (fast forward to the 5:45 mark):

Anyway, I’m not all about these games and resting guys.  I know Gerald Wallace is nicked up, when is he not?  Stephen Jackson is on the mend and Nazr Mohammed is coming back from injury.  I don’t see Orlando resting guys.  Then again, Orlando plays a different style.  It’s nice to be able to have that cushion.  We’re locked in and there is literally nothing to play for right now.  Unless you want to spoil the Bulls season, which, I don’t know about you but I DO!  Stick it to those Great Lake lovin’, Oprah watching (she tapes in Chi-town?) and MICHAEL JORDAN WANNA-BEs!

Larry doesn’t like resting guys. “That’s too important to both teams. We owe it to the league to do the right thing,” Brown said as his Bobcats earned their 44th victory of the season. (‘Cats will finish either +10 or +9 over last season, seems like a lot more)  Hoopsworld breaks it down pretty well.  A guy in the NBA isn’t going to get healthy continuing to play the minutes he’s been playing (league leader Gerald Wallace for example) and a guy who needs to get on track to possibly contribute (Gerald Henderson) can swap minutes in a “meaningless” game.

Wednesday, in preparation for the Magic and because the game has meaning for Chicago and Toronto, I expect to see a strong showing by the Bobcats, except for the balance of minutes game Larry tries to play.  He’s not great at it.  It’s go hard or go home and there is little or no rhythm to his lineups.  Very frustrating for me as a fan because I want to be in the coach’s head and Larry Brown is an impenetrable wall of monotone.  He says what’s on his mind but it’s rarely clear and hardly concise.

This leads to my next point: what to expect in the Playoffs.  I have no freakin clue.  Do you start Nazr?  Do you start Tyson or Theo?  How do you split minutes between Ray and Dj?  I just don’t know anything about how it will play out.  I’ve heard a whole lot of folks say “Not Orlando, Anybody but Orlando.”  The big man, the one and only seemingly, Dwight Howard presents some problems but I’m not scared of him.  They have pretty good point guard play from Jameer Nelson and White Chocolate Jason Williams but not worried about them either.  I’m worried about JJ Redick.  He’s 5th on their team in scoring.  Rashard Lewis doesn’t bother me, Vincanity doesn’t bother me.  It’s JJ and Gortat and Brandon Bass that bother me.  You know what you’ve got with this team.  One guy in the middle and 3 or 4 guys who are lights out behind the arc.  It’s the stuff you don’t expect from them that bother me.

So, enjoy the rest but be ready for the weekend (hope for Sunday start to this series).  It’s going to be something we (as Bobcats fans) and the city hasn’t experience before.  The last real excitement for the playoffs this town felt was absolutely shat (tered) on by some nameless Cajun quarterback throwing 6 picks or something.  The last NBA excitement was my freshman year in college and they had seats blocked off, whole sections near the top to see Barron and the Hornets wear headbands.  So it’s been about 10 years and we’re ready, primed and we have the coach (for now) and ownership and a roster of talent to stand in the way of those creepy Magicians from Florida.

BRING IT!

Michael’s Minute #2

Posted by on Jan 4, 2010 in Featured, Uncategorized | 0 comments

Sorry for taking so long to get him back up here. Here goes.

BCP: According to Matt Rochinski, Brevin Knight’s internship ends on the 31st. Will he be sticking around on the radio past then?
MT: At the time Matt Rochinski wrote that, the plan was for Brevin to stay until December 31st. That plan has changed, and Brevin will continue to provide color analysis for our home radio broadcasts, and other spot duties like studio analyst at halftime of our game at Miami on Saturday.

BCP: With the Bobcats improvement this year, is there any possibility of the NBA using it’s flex scheduling to give the team a national broadcast outside of NBA TV?
MT: There is always a chance that ESPN/TNT/NBATV will change their schedule to add a matchup that has become desirable. If we continue to beat teams like Cleveland, Denver, Atlanta and Miami, they will start to look for us to replace a game featuring an underperforming team.

BCP: With the new chat system for in-game coverage up, are there any plans to have fan chats with other members of the organization in the future?
MT: The chat system is set up primarily for use during games, and that precludes involving players. However, we are working on getting other executives on for a q&a at halftime, and maybe even a different chat format during the day or an evening when we don’t play with some of our players.

[Note: Matt Rochinski says that as soon as they work out a player chat, Gerald Wallace will be the first up]

BCP: Charlotte ranks 22nd in the league in total attendance so far, filling just under 15,000 seats per game, with just one sellout (that I’m aware of) and are 24th in attendance percentage. What can be done to sell more seats?
MT: Given the local economy, football schedule and holiday season, averaging around 15,000 per game is pretty good for November and December. In the Carolinas, people really start paying attention to basketball starting in January, and we expect to see our attendance number grow now as a result. We have some great teams coming to Time Warner Cable Arena in the next several weeks, and should be able to capitalize on our franchise-best start at home with those teams visiting during basketball’s more traditional months.
