Its a sad day for Canadians everywhere.
Yesterday afternoon the Charlotte Bobcats behind DJ Augustin and Gerald Henderson defeated the Toronto Raptors 95-90 on the road. Even though the Bobcats recently suffered a 6 game losing streak, this win helps them climb back up to #8 in the Eastern conference playoff race ( tied with the Indiana Pacers ). There are some “fans” that say they would rather see the Bobcats miss the playoffs and get a lottery pick in this year’s draft rather than eek into the playoffs and face a potential first round sweep against the Celtics, Bulls or Heat. I on the other hand completely disagree because I feel that the experienced gained from a playoff series ( even if it’s in defeat) far outweigh any lottery pick that you might get… Especially in this year’s draft.
Back to the game. Gerald Henderson had a beautiful stat line (my fantasy team thanks you) 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot. He is averaging a very nice 1.75 steals per game over the last 8 games. DJ Augustin lit up Jose Calderon and Jerryd Bayless up for 23 points , 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Neither one of the Toronto Raptor point guards could stay in front of him. In addition to Henderson and Augustin, Dante Cunningham had a nice game off of the bench with 8 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals in 19 minutes. The new guys continue to make their presence felt and they certainly seem to have added some much needed roster depth. Boris Diaw had a very Boris-like game. He had 15 points and 6 rebounds, but also led the team with 5 turnovers.
Next up for the Bobcats will be the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. The Rockets are riding a 2 game losing streak and the Cats need to keep them firmly on that path so that they can gain some separation between themselves the Pacers and the Bucks.

You have to beat lousy teams like this to get any respect. It will be very tough to make the playoffs this year. Would we be better off losing and getting a high lottery pick in the draft ?
