It's OK, MJ! It'll be OK!
Can’t win for losing. I mean seriously, the Hornets? The Hornets, George Shinn ruined this city for NBA basketball and now, the Hornets get the Number One overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft?
I don’t even want to get into the conspiracy theories, because it’s so simple to look that direction. I just want to wallow in the misery of losing yet again, in an arena where no one was in control. The Charlotte Bobcats will select second in the upcoming draft. Anthony Davis, the unibrow, the consensus player of the year in the NCAA as a freshman, will be a New Orleans Hornet and the Bobcats will have to pick from the rest.
It’s not so much that Davis is that much better, it’s the fact that everyone else is within a whisker of each other. So from one crap shoot to another. I still contend, as I would have if the Bobcats had won the lottery, that there is no such thing as a sure thing when it comes to evaluating 19 year olds to play basketball.
So, now it comes down to talent evaluation. Haha, you see what I did there? Anyway, I feel like the Bobcats have a great team in place to select exactly what they need. Hell, Rich Cho and Rod Higgins could come up with a guy they like better than the prohibitive favorite, in the goofy-lookin’ Davis. (I will continue to bash him, until he’s out of the league in 3 years)
You can never expect the best for the Bobcats. You just can’t, as a fan, expect only good things to work out for this franchise. That’s not whining, that’s not conspiracy, that’s not blaming the basketball gods or luck for the position we currently find ourselves in. That’s just a statement of fact. I’m not upset about it, but I could see how many fans could be.
Davis, the #1 pick, those would be the easy way. The Bobcats will take the hard path to relevance and hopefully beyond. This team is likely not going to get a cornerstone player in this draft but a good player will be available at #2. Rich Cho mentioned on the telecast the young players of Kemba Walker, Bismack Biyombo and Byron Mullens and you could throw Gerald Henderson into that group and a 4th young talented player could bring the team up to 20 wins, next year. Who knows? I’m trying to be optimistic damn it.

I disagree. Anthony Davis IS that much better than the rest. The 12ish guys after him are a total crap shoot. Might as well trade down for 2 guys in that batch.
yeah you’re kidding yourself that Davis isn’t that much better than the field. If you gave me picks 2-8 I’d still take Anthony Davis. Has the potential to be one of the best ever.
Fine! I was trying to feel better about it and you’re right, Davis is that much better. Rotten bastards.
They are still good players that they can get. They may not be star potential like Davis, but they will still make solid pieces in building a better club. If I were MJ or Cho, I’d play it safe and get an already established player who can contribute right off the bat. I’m thinking Jared Sullinger. He’s not as athletic or flashy as the other, but the guy will certainly give you 15 and 10 per game for a rookie year.
its ok we just number 2.. just think positive ok..
Well technically, they did not lose. They still got the second pick overall in the draft. Some may say it was a waste of them tanking, but they were never that good to begin with so if I had a terrible team and the worst I could have gotten is the second pick in the draft, I’d tank.
