Is the 2006 NBA draft REALLY weak

An interesting discussion has started in our forums , the question thats being debated is, Is the 2006 NBA draft REALLY weak?

I hear so much about the 2006 draft being so weak, but I don’t really believe thats the case. Of course there isn’t a Shaq or a LeBron or a Greg Oden out there thats going to turn a franchise around, but lets compare it to last years draft.

If last year’s #1 Andrew Bogut were in this year’s draft, would he be the top pick overall again? I have my doubts, if you’re looking for a bigman, then you would probably take LaMarcus Aldridge over Bogut. Aldridge clearly has more defensive potential than Bogut.

would last year’s #2 Marvin Williams go that high in this year’s draft? If you’re looking for a high flying, sky walking forward, could you really take him ahead of other athletes like Rudy Gay or Tyrus Thomas? Very doubtful. Both of these guys have the athleticism of Marvin Williams and Rudy clearly has a more developed game.

last year’s #3, Deron Williams? seriously, he’d be lucky to be top 10 in this draft.
