I’m Back! Bobcats Blogger Returns

Damn, I knew I liked something about those throwback uniforms...

Hello, Friends!  And I do mean friends.  After over a year in exile, I, Andrew Barraclough/BIGCatBobcat/theRobertoGato (the original, accept no imitations), am back home at BobcatsPlanet.com.  Ziggy and I talked through our issues, and believe me, they were many (they weren’t really many) and I’ve agreed to come back.  I had one condition however:  my first post back has to have a picture of the hottest Bobcats dancers, on the front page and as big as I’m allowed to make it.  You’re welcome.

If you actually want the sordid details of my time away from BobcatsPlanet, the first and what should have been the only place I ever posted, we can deal with that on a personal basis.  But I will tell you this, I missed everyone here, especially our hero, the man who runs this site “Ziggy.”

We never had any issues, of course he bid me farewell and wished me the best when I thought a special opportunity arose and didn’t say “I told you so,” when I came to him as a friend when I ran into issues.

Can I tell you the area of the photo to the left that is in the window as I type is fantastic?  Just works out that way and if I keep typing, it might go away…

That’s why they made the scroll wheel, right fellas?  Many of you know, me, many of you might not.  Quite a few of you might not even care, but I’ll tell you this, I’m passionate about the Charlotte Bobcats.  If you’re here, if you post in the forums, you are too.  Judging by the TV numbers and attendance (I’m talking about the people who have season tickets or come to the odd game as a Bobcats fan, not these front runners that cheer Miami, Boston, Chicago, the Lakers or the Clippers) we are a select few.  That’s ok.  We’ll be the guys in 10 years saying “Yep, I was there for 8-58 (that’s right, they’ll win against either Orlando or New York),” or “We were on BobcatsPlanet posting from the beginning, or well, yeah the early days.”  We’ll be the old men in the online version of a rocking chair telling the whipper snappers they don’t know how good they’ve got it, when the Bobcats are perennial playoff contenders and Anthony Davis is in that Tim Duncan, waning part of his career after 2-3 championships.

Charlotte Bobcats at New Orleans Hornets, special guest commentary

Posted by on Dec 2, 2010 in DJ Augustin, Emeka Okafor, New Orleans Hornets | 0 comments

My Dad, since I moved in with them back in May, has tried to support my Bobcats habit.  I think it’s because Mom told him to.  “Honey, the only thing your Dad and I worried about with you moving up here was you missing out on your Bobcats.  Isn’t that right?”  To which my Dad would pop up with something summing up his thoughts on basketball, which are that it’s “mutants” trying to throw a ball through a hoop.  “Mutants, Dad?”  “They must be, seriously who grows naturally to over 7 feet!?”

So, with the Bobcats facing the Hornets tonight and only being able to watch the game on one of two TVs, my mother’s recorded soaps on the other, Dad and I sit down to watch the game.  Without further ado:  Shit My Dad Says version of Bobcats vs Hornets

I hate that damn Sprite commercial (the one with Drake, I’m not even sure)…it’s not even music.  If it were music we’d still hate it because it doesn’t even rhyme!

(Steve Martin explaining the Stephen Jackson suspension)That’s just ridiculous, they won’t let him play for something he said to the ref.  Not getting off the court in time?  Come on!

Watching the Hornets succeed in the playoffs is a real kick in the nuts

Posted by on May 11, 2008 in New Orleans Hornets | 0 comments

These feelings were expressed by longtime BobcatsPlanet member TheBeagle, but they are feelings that are shared among 99% of our membership.

Yeah, I’ve pulled against Charlotte since they left; I loved it when the got busted in the 1st round against Miami their first year in NO. I loved it when they moved west and figured they wouldn’t see the playoffs in the next 10 or so years….and for a while it looked that way. Seeing the success they’ve had this year, and the attendance rising because of the playoffs has been a real kick to the man-region for me. Like Muttley, I can’t stand the Spurs and am still hoping they can find a way to pull out the series over NO.

I understand part of life is having a second chance, and maybe you can put the “Honey Bee incident” away for good, forgive and forget, but what he pulled over on the city of Charlotte and Hornets fans in the Carolinas…..any success he has just proves there’s no justice in the world.

Another factor that makes watching the Hornets’ playoff run even more painful is the fact that Chris Paul could have (and should have) been a Bobcat. Back in  the ’05 draft we had the opportunity to bundle our #5 and #13 picks to move up to the #3 pick to draft CP3. We passed on that deal and drafted Raymond Felton who most feel will still turn out to be a very serviceable starting PG in this league (but certainly no CP3) and Sean May who has played less than 60 games total in 3 seasons.

Who else out here cringes at the thought of the George Shinn Hornets making noise in the playoffs?

Bobcats / Hornets preview 12/28

Posted by on Dec 27, 2007 in New Orleans Hornets | 0 comments

Friday night the New Orleans /  previously Oklahoma City / originally Charlotte / rumored to be Seattle in a few years Hornets come to town to play the Bobcats.

George ShinnIts very doubtful that George Shinn pictured to the left will makie his way to town. He’s far too busy with his hobbies of biting the heads off chickens, practicing witchcraft, drinking infant blood and getting 666 tattoos… busy, busy, busy.

While we won’t have Shinn here to kick around on Friday, we will have Chris Paul who has been playing out of his mind the last several games, including dropping 40 on the Grizzlies last night ( by the way, the Grizzlies fans are a tad bit pissed about it ). For the season hes averaging 21.7 ppg, 10 apg, almost 3 steals while shooting just a shade under 50% from the field. As much as it pains me to say it, those are MVP caliber numbers. Raymond Felton is going to have his hands full Friday night.

If you’d like to follow the action on Friday night as always you can join us in our game thread or in the chatroom .

If you’d like to follow the game from the cowardly, panty waist, egg sucking Hornets perspective then we recommend the following.
