Dampier to the Heat?

Much has already been said about the trade that brought Erick Dampier over to the Bobcats along with the likelihood of the team actually signing him to a contract since that $13.1 million that Mark Cuban had promised him is just way too much.
Sure enough the talks have stalled and the team is looking to dump him in September and then possibly resign him for less. However, if they do waive him with the hopes of resigning him they may end up seeing him simply walk away.
Now for many of …

Anyone got a Center?

After reading further through the forums I have to say that I am impressed with most of the comments; the readers here are obviously well informed about their team and are not shy about sharing their thoughts.
That being said I have a question or more of an observation of sorts that I would like to present; I will be very curious and a little eager even to read your comments.
The concerns at point guard are clear. Whether or not the team should have let Raymond Felton go we will not …

Tyson Chandler Thinking About Opting Out?

For a guy that missed 37 games last season and has been injury plagued his entire career a 12.6 million dollar salary would sound pretty good for next season, but it sounds like Tyson Chandler may have other ideas. A report from ESPN has a source claiming that Chandler is seriously considering opting out of his contract and becoming a free agent this summer. If the 7’1 center did decide to opt out then he would be forfeiting his 12.6 million dollar salary and be looking for a brand new …

Report Cards!

Now that the Bobcats are officially in the offseason, it’s time to grade how they did. Over the next month, I’ll be giving every player and select non-players their grades for the season. But I’ll start with a general report card for the entire team. Enjoy!

Bobcats clinch first playoff spot with win over Hornets (104-103)

Charlotte fans are getting a quick peek at what could be the roller coaster ride the play-offs will be for their Bobcats. For the second game in a row, the ‘Cats let a huge margin evaporate (26 points tonight) and had a tough fight on their hands to win the game. Tonight saw the Bobcats go through a 35 point swing, 26 points up to 9 points down, and have to fight back to get a win against a determined Hornets team. There were lots of first for the Bobcats …

Magic number is 5: Bobcats smash the 76ers (103-84)

The Bobcats vs. the 76ers 3/31/10
The Bobcats are capable of giving every fan a reason to pause, usually in the third or fourth quarter of a game. When the ‘Cats let the 76ers go off on a (9-2) scoring run in the third quarter it gave me a little pause. I began to think the ‘Cats were determined to let the 76ers back into the game. Instead, the Bobcats started to pull away and never looked back. Gerald Wallace put together his thirty-third double-double of the season (24 points …

‘Cats dunk Wizards 107-96, move Magic Number to 7

Just a few days ago, we saw the Charlotte Bobcats play horrible basketball in Washington, D.C. but somehow come out with an overtime win over the Wizards, 95-86. There would be no overtime tonight, as the ‘Cats survived multiple attempts at a comeback by the Washington Wizards to win 107-96. The Bobcats earned their franchise-record 38th win, and are for the first time ever four games over .500%. The Wizards, however, set their own franchise record with their 14th consecutive loss. While it wasn’t pretty, it’s a win, and that means the magic number to make the playoffs is down to 7.

Wallace and the ‘Cats spoil Steph Curry’s return home, 101-90

If you had any question how well liked young Stephen Curry is in the Queen City, then that was certainly answered tonight. Returning home to Charlotte as a Golden State Warrior, the rookie received a standing ovation in player introductions and was cheered nearly every time he touched the ball. However, Gerald Wallace, DJ Augustin, and Boris Diaw helped the Charlotte Bobcats ruin his trip home, winning 101-90.

BigCat: Big Wrap

I’m not blogging as much as I’d like and for that I appologize to you, loyal reader.  I started one last weekend but I was interrupted about 30-40 times by my Mother, Father and Niece asking “What are you doing?”  Or rather, when it’s my niece:  ”UN-kle! AN-DRAW!  You come play with my dooooollll-houssssseee?”  She’s 18 and we’re so proud she learned to talk finally (jokes, she’s 3 and the cutest stinkin kid you’ve ever seen).
I have been keeping up with all the goings-on with the Bobcats.  I’m very confused …

Charlotte Bobcats lose to the New Orleans Hornets 104-99

There are many good ways to spend a Saturday evening. Unfortunately for us Bobcats fans, none of those ways involved anything that happened in last night’s Bobcats game.
For starters, we had Emeka Okafor come back to town. Emeka is a nice guy, and to be honest with you he was one of my favorite players during his time as a Bobcat. With that being said, it was more than a little bit painful watching him put up 16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocked shots and 1 steal while playing solid …

Tyson Chandler Needs to Come Back

That’s right.  All the hate, and I mean allllll of it, while warranted, is somewhat moot.  The Bobcats need Tyson Chandler back in the line up if they want to be successful and sustain some level of established improvement.  It’s not that he brings so much himself, it’s what he allows the defense to do.  I made fun of the “article” I found via some website, via his website, which was a rehash of an article Rick Bonnell wrote.  And I will give Rick credit here, as much as I …

Just some observations

Sup everybody, BETCATS checking back in. If you are reading this, i would like to wish you a happy holiday season. At the time i wrote my last piece for the site, the Bobcats were struggling. A lot of us were panicking and we were all starting to think maybe the playoffs are out of reach. The faith in our team to get the job done was questionable. We then went on a little win streak, and everyone was satisfied temporarily. But that was then.
Fast forward to today, the Bobcats are …

You Got Questions?

I WANT THE TRUTH!  You can’t handle the truth.
Thanks Jack.  BigCat here, I was just mulling all this “Gerald Wallace calls out Tyson Chandler and Boris Diaw, Tyson Chandler plays well and tells Gerald where to stick it” stuff.  I’m not impressed.  All I want to know is, who is showing up every night?  Who is going to make the plays to put this team ahead or bring this team up from behind and steal a victory.  Neither has happened of late.  One win against 6 losses in the last…..umm, …
