Tuesday Morning Predraft Linkage 6/23

We’re down to a handful of people that the Charlotte Bobcats are considering for their #12 pick. Most of the attention seems to be on Terrence Williams and Gerald Henderson, but lets throw Dejuan Blair in the mix also as a dark horse. Based on comments that Larry Brown made following his workout, he seems to be high on LB’s list. Here is the latest linkage on these 3 prospects

Terrence Williams
NJ.com – The Terrence Williams Workout

As you college enthusiasts know, the Louisville wing is unique: He’s more likely to get his first triple-double in the pros before he gets a 30-point game.

“He really knows how to play — so the passing ability stands out,” Vandeweghe said. “He makes others better, and he plays hard. He’s a great teammate.”

NY Daily News – Terrence Williams impressive in workout with Nets

“He demonstrated today that he can shoot the ball,” the GM said. “He’s certainly improved throughout his college career. There’s no reason to believe he won’t improve.”

Just talking to the guy, you had to like his attitude. He’s someone you could see fitting in well with the Nets’ core of Vince Carter, Devin Harris and Brook Lopez.

How does he describe his game?

“Defensive-minded,” Williams said. “Come in right away and help on the defensive end and be an off guard who can help bring the ball up the court with Harris. Get rebounds and I love to pass. They’ve got great shooters and great scorers so I think I can get them the ball to score.”

Via Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, Jay Bilas says that he would take Terrence Williams ahead of Gerald Henderson

Jay said Henderson is the better offensive player, but that speaks more to what an unreliable shooter Williams is. Bilas noted that Williams is bigger, stronger, more versatile (he can play shooting guard or small forward) and a better passer and rebounder. And he said Williams has a better feel for the game than Henderson.

And speaking of Williams -vs- Henderson, here is video of their workout with the Bobcats yesterday.

Gerald Henderson

USA Today – Gerald Henderson confident that he’ll flourish at next level

Duke men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski is perhaps such a good teacher and gets so much out of his players that his program has a reputation for creating solid, but not standout, NBA players.

Guard Gerald Henderson aims to change that stereotype.

“I feel like I’m different than anyone who’s come out of Duke,” said Henderson, a junior last season for the Blue Devils. “We’ve had some good players out of here, and guys have had different careers. But I don’t think anyone’s specifically like me.”

Chicago Tribune – Gerald Henderson works out for the Bulls Currently the Bulls are holding the 16th and 26th picks, so if their interest in Henderson is genuine then they are either hoping for him to slide or they’re planning on moving up.

Gerald Henderson couldn’t hide the $100 worth of meal money the Bulls had given him under rules of the collective bargaining agreement following his draft workout Monday.

So the Duke shooting guard proved his humor is as accomplished as his defensive ability when asked why, even though he’s projected as a lottery pick, he sweated his day away at the Berto Center.

“This right here,” Henderson said, holding up the bill. “I want to get paid like Luol.”

DeJuan Blair

Detroit Free Press – DeJuan Blair makes up for height with heart

Blair, who has been to Detroit among many visits, also addressed the height issue during a media availability session at the combine. At 6-6, he is considered undersized at power forward.”That’s just height,” Blair said. “Height don’t measure up with your heart, and I got a lot of that and a lot of toughness. My heart is enough to take up for my height.”
