I’ll start this out by saying that in addition to being a huge Charlotte Bobcats fan ( as if there were any doubt about that ) I am also a big Carolina Panthers fan. Every Panthers game that I watch, I’m pulling for them just as hard as every other fan out there. BUT I have to wonder are the Carolina Panthers’ struggles a potential gain for the Charlotte Bobcats? How much more of this really, REALLY sorry football will the fans be able to take before they jump ship and switch their primary focus to the other team in town?
Taking a look at some of the Carolina Panthers blogs out there, you can see that this is not a fan base full of optimism. Here is what they were saying following yesterday’s uninspiring loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
Cat Scratch Reader – Bucks smack Panthers 20-7
Well maybe it won’t take 11 games to make a QB change this season. It’s obvious after two games a change needs to be made. I’m still just sick of the piss poor play calling.
Real Bits of Panthers - Panthers fall to 0-2, Is it time to pull the plug on the Matt Moore experiment?
Normally I’m not one to place the blame for an entire loss on on player’s shoulders, but in this instance the loss to Tampa Bay is wholly Matt Moore’s. When you convert just 5/16 on third down there is a serious problem, and it’s in this area that falls into a quarterbacks list of responsibilities. If you don’t like the play call, audible… if you don’t like what the defense is showing then call a time out. Matt Moore looks scared to be an NFL quarterback shying away from taking on too much responsibility and deferring too often
By early November this may be a group of fans that will gladly latch on to a potential playoff team like the Bobcats. What are your thoughts on this? Is it something that is a possibility or are the loyalty of the two fan bases completely unrelated?

With Matt Moore out of the starting lineup this week there is some hope that the offense may put some points on the board. But I agree if we see a few more games like weeks 1 and 2 then I’ll be ready for some NBA.
This is something that I’ve been talking about for a while. I think Charlotte is ripe for a change. With the Panthers going through a down period that could last several years, and the bobcats on the upswing, (not to mention more affordable) I wouldn’t be surprised to see a shift from the Panthers to the Bobcats. I’ve already kind of made that shift myself; I’m much more excited about the Bobcats than I am the Panthers right now.
